During my pregnancies, I took constant physical activity very seriously. I went swimming two or three days a week and walked regularly, even in the final stretch, which I experienced during a hot summer. Sport is beneficial for pregnant women. And, now the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in the United States has published a study that reveals that it also strengthens the baby's heart.

The research found that the babies of women who engaged in physical exercise on a regular basis, that is, at least three times a week, had a lower heart rate. The benefit on the baby was maintained throughout the pregnancy and at least during the first month of the baby's life.

Experts believe that the endorphins that are generated in pregnant women when doing sports cross the placenta and thus promote the development of the baby's heart and protect you from birth. In addition, it lowers the risk of the baby suffering from tachycardias during the delivery process, which is a sign of fetal distress.

Depending on the circumstances of each woman, the doctor may recommend one activity or another, but for women without any complications or illness, sports such as swimming, Pilates, yoga, specific gymnastics or the simple fact of walking at least half an hour every day, it is a highly beneficial exercise.
